In 1996, a friend introduced him to Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC who was organizing his label Jam Master Jay Records. It was the first time he entered a studio. Jay taught him how to count bars, write choruses, structure songs, and make a record.[4][5] 50 Cent's first official appearance was on a song titled "React" with the group Onyx on their 1998 album Shut 'Em Down. He credited Jam Master Jay as an influence who helped him improve his ability to write hooks.[6] He produced 50 Cent's first album, however it was never released.[7] In 1999, after leaving Jam Master Jay, the platinum-selling producers Trackmasters took notice of 50 Cent and signed him to Columbia Records. 50 Cent's popularity started to increase after the successful but controversial underground single, "How to Rob", which he wrote in half an hour while in a car on the way to a studio.[12][13] The track comically explains how he would rob many famous artists. He explained the reasoning behind song's content as, "There’s a hundred artists on that label, you gotta separate yourself from that group and make yourself relevant."[12] Rappers Jay-Z, Big Pun, DMX, and the Wu-Tang Clan replied to the song[13] and Nas, who received the track positively, invited 50 Cent to travel on a promotional tour for his Nastradamus album.[14] The song was intended to be released with "Thug Love" featuring Destiny's Child, but two days before he was scheduled to film the "Thug Love" music video, 50 Cent was shot and confined to a hospital due to his injuries

On May 24, 2000, 50 Cent was attacked by a gunman outside his grandmother's former home in South Jamaica, Queens. He went into a friend's car, but was asked to return to the house to get jewelry. His son was in the house while his grandmother was in the front yard.[8] On returning to the back seat of the car, another car pulled up nearby. An assailant then walked up to 50 Cent's left side with a 9mm handgun and fired nine shots at close range. He was shot nine times—in the hand (a round hit his right thumb and came out of his pinky), arm, hip, both legs, chest, and left cheek.[7][16][17] The face wound resulted in a swollen tongue, the loss of a wisdom tooth, and a small slur in his voice.[14][16][18] His friend also sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. They were driven to the hospital where he spent thirteen days in recovery. The alleged shooter, Darryl "Hommo" Baum, was killed three weeks later. His funeral was attended by close friend Mike Tyson shortly before his fight with Lou Savarese.[19][20]
50 Cent recalled the incident saying, "It happens so fast that you don't even get a chance to shoot back... I was scared the whole time... I was looking in the rear-view mirror like, 'Oh AV儿劣*, somebody shot me in the face! It burns, burns, burns.'"[16] In his memoir, From Pieces to Weight: Once upon a Time in Southside Queens, he wrote, "After I got shot nine times at close range and didn't die, I started to think that I must have a purpose in life... How much more damage could that shell have done? Give me an inch in this direction or that one, and I'm gone."[1] He used a walker for the first six weeks and recovered after five months. When he left the hospital, he stayed in the Poconos with his then-girlfriend and son. His physical workout regimen helped him attain his muscular physique.[7][16][21]
While in the hospital, 50 Cent signed a publishing deal with Columbia Records. However, he was dropped from the label and "blacklisted" in the recording industry after it was discovered he was shot. Unable to find a studio to work with in the U.S, he traveled to Canada.[22][23] Along with his business partner Sha Money XL, he recorded over thirty songs for mixtapes, with the purpose of building a reputation. 50 Cent's popularity rose, and in early 2001, he released material independently on the mixtape, Guess Who's Back?. Beginning to attract interest, and now backed by G-Unit, 50 Cent continued to make songs. They released the mixtape, 50 Cent Is the Future, revisiting material by Jay-Z and Raphael Saadiq.[9]

He received the CD through 50 Cent's attorney, who was working with Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg.[15] Impressed with the album, Eminem invited 50 Cent to fly to Los Angeles, where he was introduced to Dr. Dre.[7][4][15] After signing a one million U.S. dollar record deal,[4] 50 Cent released the mixtape, No Mercy, No Fear. On October 13, 1997, 50 Cent's then-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins gave birth to a son, Marquise Jackson.[3][38] The birth of his son changed his outlook on life, "when my son came into my life, my priorities changed, because I wanted to have the relationship with him, that I didn’t have with my father."[39] He credited his son for inspiring his career and being "motivation to go in a different direction."[40] 50 Cent has a tattoo of "Marquise" with an axe on his right bicep. The rappers engaged in numerous mixtape "disses". 50 Cent claimed the feud began in 1999 after Ja Rule spotted him with a man who robbed him of his jewelry.[41] However, Ja Rule claimed the conflict stemmed from a video shoot in Queens because 50 Cent did not like seeing him "getting so much love" from the neighborhood.[61] In March 2000, while at The Hit Factory studio in New York, 50 Cent had an altercation with associates of Murder Inc. Records. He was treated for three stitches after receiving a stab wound.[41][62] Rap50 cent poemsper Black Child claimed responsibility for the stabbing, saying he acted in self-defense because he thought someone was reaching for a gun.[63]
An affidavit by an IRS agent suggested that the label had ties to Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, a New York drug lord who was suspected of being involved in the murder of Jam Master Jay and the shooting of 50 Cent. An excerpt of the affidavit read:
The investigation has uncovered a conspiracy involving McGriff and others to murder a rap artist who has released songs containing lyrics regarding McGriff's criminal activities. The rap artist was shot in 2000, survived and thereafter refused to cooperate with law enforcement regarding the shooting. Messages transmitted over the Murder Inc. pager indicate that McGriff is involved in an ongoing plot to kill this rap artist, and that he communicates with Murder Inc. employees concerning the target.[22]

Before releasing The Massacre, 50 Cent recorded a song, "Piggy Bank", which was leaked before the album's release. The song "disses" rappers including Fat Joe, Nas, and Jadakiss.[64] Fat Joe responded with a song, "My Fo, Fo", accusing 50 Cent of taking steroids, hiding in his home, and being jealous of The Game. Jadakiss also responded with a song, "Checkmate", and said that 50 Cent was trying to "create a buzz for his new album".[65] The music video for "Piggy Bank" portrays animated caricatures of Jadakiss (as a Ninja turtle), Fat Joe (as an overweight boxer who receives a knockout), Nas (as a kid chasing a "milkshake" truck in a Superman costume), and The Game (as Mr. Potato Head).[66]

In early 2005, 50 Cent began a feud with The Game, whom he was close to before releasing his debut album The Documentary. After its release, 50 Cent felt The Game was disloyal for saying he did not want to participate in G-Unit's feuds with other rappers and even wanting to work with artists they were feuding with. He also claimed that he wrote six songs on the album and was not receiving proper credit for his work, which The Game denied.[72]
50 Cent later dismissed The Game from G-Unit on Hot 97 radio. After the announcement, The Game, who was a guest earlier in the evening, attempted to enter the building with his entourage. After being denied entry, one of his associates was shot in the leg during a confrontation with a group of men leaving the building.[73][74] When the situation escalated, both rappers held a press conference to announce their reconciliation.[75] Fans had mixed feelings as to whether the rappers created a publicity stunt to boost the sales of the albums they had just released.[76] Nevertheless, even after the situation deflated,[77] The Game's street credibility was criticized by G-Unit. According to court documents, the ad features a cartoon image of the rapper and the message: "shoot the rapper and you will win $5000 or five ring tones guaranteed." Though the ad did not use his name, the image allegedly intended to resemble him, suggesting he endorsed the ad. Shooting
On May 24, 2000, 50 Cent was attacked by a gunman outside his grandmother's former home in South Jamaica, Queens. He went into a friend's car, but was asked to return to the house to get jewelry. His son was in the house while his grandmother was in the front yard.[8] On returning to the back seat of the car, another car pulled up nearby. An assailant then walked up to 50 Cent's left side with a 9mm handgun and fired nine shots at close range. He was shot nine times—in the hand (a round hit his right thumb and came out of his pinky), arm, hip, both legs, chest, and left cheek.[7][16][17] The face wound resulted in a swollen tongue, the loss of a wisdom tooth, and a small slur in his voice.[14][16][18] His friend also sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. They were driven to the hospital where he spent thirteen days in recovery. The alleged shooter, Darryl "Hommo" Baum, was killed three weeks later. His funeral was attended by close friend Mike Tyson shortly before his fight with Lou Savarese.[19][20]
50 Cent recalled the incident saying, "It happens so fast that you don't even get a chance to shoot back... I was scared the whole time... I was looking in the rear-view mirror like, 'Oh AV儿劣*, somebody shot me in the face! It burns, burns, burns.'"[16] In his memoir, From Pieces to Weight: Once upon a Time in Southside Queens, he wrote, "After I got shot nine times at close range and didn't die, I started to think that I must have a purpose in life... How much more damage could that shell have done? Give me an inch in this direction or that one, and I'm gone."[1] He used a walker for the first six weeks and recovered after five months. When he left the hospital, he stayed in the Poconos with his then-girlfriend and son. His physical workout regimen helped him attain his muscular physique.[7][16][21]
While in the hospital, 50 Cent signed a publishing deal with Columbia Records. However, he was dropped from the label and "blacklisted" in the recording industry after it was discovered he was shot. Unable to find a studio to work with in the U.S, he traveled to Canada.[22][23] Along with his business partner Sha Money XL, he recorded over thirty songs for mixtapes, with the purpose of building a reputation. 50 Cent's popularity rose, and in early 2001, he released material independently on the mixtape, Guess Who's Back?. He received the CD through 50 Cent's attorney, who was working with Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg.[15] Impressed with the album, Eminem invited 50 Cent to fly to Los Angeles, where he was introduced to Dr. Dre.[7][4][15] After signing a one million U.S. dollar record deal,[4] 50 Cent released the mixtape, No Mercy, No Fear. The rappers engaged in numerous mixtape "disses". 50 Cent claimed the feud began in 1999 after Ja Rule spotted him with a man who robbed him of his jewelry.[41] However, Ja Rule claimed the conflict stemmed from a video shoot in Queens because 50 Cent did not like seeing him "getting so much love" from the neighborhood.[61] In March 2000, while at The Hit Factory studio in New York, 50 Cent had an altercation with associates of Murder Inc. Records. He was treated for three stitches after receiving a stab wound.[41][62] Rap50 cent poemsper Black Child claimed responsibility for the stabbing, saying he acted in self-defense because he thought someone was reaching for a gun.[63]
An affidavit by an IRS agent suggested that the label had ties to Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, a New York drug lord who was suspected of being involved in the murder of Jam Master Jay and the shooting of 50 Cent. An excerpt of the affidavit read:

The song "disses" rappers including Fat Joe, Nas, and Jadakiss.[64] Fat Joe responded with a song, "My Fo, Fo", accusing 50 Cent of taking steroids, hiding in his home, and being jealous of The Game. The conversation started with her asking me if I was dating anyone. By the way, I am also Filipino, in my early thirties, have a successful career, never been married and just recently got off a three year relationship. If you must know my ex-girlfriend was white.
She wanted to know why I am not dating a Filipino woman. My answer was that my ex caught my eyes and I didn't really think about whether she was white, Filipino, Latino, etc. The thing that turned me on about my ex was the mutual interest we had when we first met each other.
I asked my friend if she was dating anyone. And she said yes, and that her boyfriend is white. And she went on to say that she will never date a Filipino guy; also stated that she was once married to one.
She told me that white guys are more loving, caring, and able to give them the love that Filipino men can't...Being Filipino myself, my ex has always told me that I was the most caring, loving, adventurous, and attentive guy she was lucky to have for 3 years. So instead of pulling my hair and trying to understand what my friend meant, I took a trip back to memory lane and into my college days where I took a class on Asian experience in American society. This is what I have found out regarding interracial dating:
1) Asian women (Filipino) traditionally come from a society/upbringing where the men wear the pants in the family. Decisions are made by the father/males. The women are subservient and docile and have no say in any decision making processes. Typically a chauvinistic family background. Asian women do not like this at all.
2) Once ingrained in American society, Asian women begin to realize the opportunities presented to them that they were deprived of in their cultural background; 1) Decision-making, 2) Career choices, 3) Social success, and 4) Economic success.
3) With numbers 3 and 4 strongly enforced as a part of their new-found life in American society, they slowly but surdating game questions for menely begin to branch out of their "oppressed" upbringing and start dating Caucasian men. They feel that doing so will give them the economic and social success, happiness, and prosperity that eluded them while growing up in their culture. OF COURSE, THERE MUST BE LIKE/LOVE, OR INTEREST IN ONE ANOTHER. At the same time couldn't an Asian (Filipino) woman gain economic and social sucess from an Asian, Latin, Black man, etc.? Nowadays, success knows no colors.
That's all I remember from my college course, but I realize that new reasons have arisen the past couple of years.

grass eating bugsI need help taking care of saint Augustine Grass in Florida and keep away Cinch Bugs?
It has been 2 months, the cinch bugs and shrubs are eating away the grass. I've used multiple brands of insect killers but they keep coming back. Two months ago I used Weed and Feed, after that I had the hardest time with cinch bugs eating my grass. Any good ideas?
If it's grubs that you have, you can vacuum the lawn (really) with a shop vac, use soapy water or apply Diazinon or similar product. The best thing grass eating bugsis to make sure this is what you have. For the "grubs" apply what is recommended for these critters (2nd link). This is a good time for the first treatment & the 2nd one in spring. If you want an organic method, Milky Spore is good for grubs. It must be applied 3x a year for 2yrs. Make sure what you're dealing with isn't St. Augustine fungus. It's very common in that type of grass & spreads vegrass eating bugsry rapidly. It can destroy your whole lawn, so check with a professional grass company. They'll give you a free analysis/estimate. It's cheaper than new sod. Good luck.

Colleen Howe the wife of Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe passed today from Picks which is form of dementia. She was a powerful force herself, most noted for her charitable work and of course being the matriarch of the Howe clan. Many also may not be aware that Colleen along with Peter Karmanos (Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricane) were the driving force behind the Jr. Red WIngs franchise. So I guess I am obligated to ask a question....Will the game of hockey miss what was essentially the first ladfy of hockey?
Furthermore and likely not known to many fans (except probably Lity and other of us older fans) she was also "blamed" by Bruce Norris for forcing Mr. Norris to pay Howe $100,000.00 after discovering that he was only colleen howethe 3rd highest paid Red Wing.

The news came by the NHL offices earlier today, and several areas closed early in her honour. She was amazing woman.
- At one time she acted as the agent for Gordie, 马克, and Marty, and she was a tough negotiator. - She also worked with Clarence Campbell and most recently Gary Bettman on bringing hockey to the inner city of Detroit
- She ran for the US Congress in Connecticut
- She was the President of all of her and Gordie's companies (Gordie will tell anyone who listens he knows nothing about business - qand has no desire to learn)
- She was the Red Wings accountan for a time in the 1980s after the Ilitchcolleen howe family bought the team
In a lot of ways she was the NHL's first lady. Most players kept their wives/girlfriends out of the sport, but Colleen always wanted to be as close to it as possible. She was probably the only woman in the 60s who knew everybody in the NHL (players, coaches, trainers, scouts, GMs, and owners) on a first name basis.
This will be very hard on Gordie especially!

When I was married I never cheated on my habitual cheating husband.
Simply, I cheated because my husband could not meet my sexual needs. In addition, in today's society women have the upper hand and have more opportunities to cheat. Men have fallen behind... Also, I believe it can be difficult for 1 man to consistently meet a woman's needs while men can be satisfied with a flick of the wrist. Lastly, women to day outgrow their husbands in many cases. In my case, I was more successful and kept myself in much better shape while he was stagnant in his job making less than me and not taking care of himself. We were not equally matched and I made a decision to get a man that has the ability to please me more. While I made the decision the wrong way (cheating which resulted in alot of guilt) it was right for me. Even now though,he still wants me back...so go figure?

Women who cheat do it because they either have forgotten the promises they made when they got married or they don't care. It seems most women place a high value on spontaneity, drama, and excitement. For some reason many women like knowing that other men still want them (since they're married they should only be concerned about being attractive to the person they're married to). A person's morals are a deeply ingrained part of who they are. I think there is definitely a type of person who cheats and a type who would never cheat, and I would hope a person would know what type they're with before marrying them. To answer the other part of the question, cheating why married women cheatis totally unforgivable and would be immediate grounds for divorce. It is absolutely the worst kind of betrayal.

Simply, I cheated because my husband could not meet my sexual needs. In addition, in today's society women have the upper hand and have more opportunities to cheat. Men have fallen behind... Also, I believe it can be difficult for 1 man to consistently meet a woman's needs while men can be satisfied with a flick of the wrist. Lastly, women to day outgrow their husbands in many cases. In my case, I was more successful and kept myself in much better shape while he was stagnant in his job making less than me and not taking care of himself. We were not equally matched and I made a decision to get a man that has the ability to please me more. While I made the decision the wrong way (cheating which resulted in alot of guilt) it was right for me. Even now though,he still wants me back...so go figure?

I was born in the early 80's so I practically lived throughout the 90's. I couldn't remember much about the 80's for I was still little but I spent my childhood and teenagehood in the 90's and to me, those were the greatest years.
I was mostly fond of its music. The 90's music was so much better than the 00's IMO. I mean, let's take a look:
- During this time, the music industry still gave big emphasis on the talents, voice, and music; and not so much on the image and physical appearance. These days, most pop stars only care about their image, videos and how they’re gonna dress themselves on the red carpet.
- The 90's was also the decade when the “divas” still ruled.
- Whitney Houston was still sober.
- Mariah Carey was still the sweet girl-next-door and her voice was still in top shape, unlike now where she tends to whisper a lot. Back then, she could sing pop ballads like no one could. Now, she tends to sing hip-hop.
- Honestly, I like Madonna better in this era rather than today.
- The overall bands of the 90’s I still like better than the ones in the 00’s.
- Guns n' Roses were still together and Axl Rose was not as creepy as today.
- Nirvana and Kurt Cobain was still around (well, in the early 90's that is).
- Not to mention all the other great bands of the 90's like the Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden etc. Sorry but I don't really like emo bands/singers of today.
- Michael Jackson was still on top of his game (well, at least in the early 90's too).
- The Disney's shows were still good and not as crappy as today. There were no JoBros or Miley or High School Musical etc.
- And eventhough I never really like boys bands, but at least to me the boys bands of the 90’s were overall still better in quality than today. Hey at least back then we still had Boyz II Men and All-4-One, and they all can sang!
- The rap music was still clean & the lyrics were deep. In this decade, most rap songs have meaningful messages, e.g. life struggle, society, race equality etc. Nowadays, most rappers talk about b*tches and hos and big booty and gangsta, and the videos usually show them with bling, fur coat, fancy cars, big mansions, parties, and scantily clad babes dancing around like strippers.
- The technology was still old back then, I mean there were no MP3s and/or iPod etc. But to me, that kinda gave a sense of genuineness in art, unlike today where everything is all digital.
- And the biggest difference of them all is: there were NO crappy cheesy reality shows like today (urgh!)
Yeah, of course there were also many cheesy pop stars in the 90’s like the Spice Girls, S Club 7, Steps, The Backstreet Boys, A1, Britney Spears, 5ive etc, but still… overall, to me this decade is still bjackson 5ive lyricsetter than the 00’s. Even I still like the 80’s, 70’s and/or 60's better than today.
What do you think? And is there any of you who miss the 90’s too (or perhaps the decades before the 90’s)?

Not forgetting the 90's Britpop revolution with great bands such as Oasis, Blur, Cast, Pulp, Space ect.. all on top of their game musically.

One other key thing...the 90s didn't have George W. Bush. The 2000s did...and you know what happened at the end.

I was born late 70s so I can relate to you. back in 1990 i started my first metal band here in phoenix Arizona. by 1992 the alternative and grunge movement was BOOMING. in 1993 I decided to take a break from Metal and not so much sell out to the mainstream but many metal musicians just stopped making bands and playing. So kinda with nothing else to do I started an Alternative Acoustic Side Project. In the scene here it was very very competitive especially with the Gin Blossoms hailing here. they were huge in the early 90s and all the alternative bands here were trying to be as successful or more successful so it was cut throat. So my project didn't get anywhere other than I opened for Frank Black (Black Frances) here on his very first solo album tour, and did a few open mics with a guy named Doug Hopkins who I didn't know for the first few weeks of playing with him he was the music master mind behind the Gin Blossoms. Long story when he could mentally function he would come down and do open mic at Long Wongs in Tempe, he lived not to far away.
So anyway I didn't go anywhere lol it was just too competitive here.
Later in the late 90s metal started picking up again and I started playing with more metal bands, I mean the underground never died it was just to far spread out to find gigs projects and work.
Now Metal is Booming even more around the world but here in the USA not a lot of guys are doing what I need so its still hard but nevertheless I wouldn't have a chance back then. So no I really don't miss the 90s other than a couple bjackson 5ive lyricsands. One band is Lush they got really popular in the 90s until the drummer committed suicide in 97 and Miki the front woman was so devastated she left the industry sad story I miss her and her music
LOL! You are funny. However, I must disagree wit the reality show comment. Real World started in the 90's. And as ashamed as I am to say it, I was watching it. LOL! So blame the 90's for that.
People in the 80's said the same thing about the 90's. The 90's was filled with people lip syncing and faking like Milli-Vanilli, Black Box, and C&C Music Factory (Martha Wash was replaced by a skinny prettier 拙克力 girl...and people still swear Black Box was a man). Over sounding synthesizers that replaced live bands. However, all wasn't bad. I still don't know a girl group who could touch Envogue, Micheal was Mocha Latte with a splash of creme, people danced really hard back then like they were working out, and although there were skanky lyrics, everyone wasn't singing about that all the time. And yes, rap was better. Yes, we had Hammer in the 90's, but can we really say he was as bad a Soldier Boi? At least Hammer could groove. Oh, and he could read too. LOL!
I think what's wrong with this decade is over-saturation of the same old crap. Everyone looks the same and sounds the same, and do the same things. Its not enough variety getting the same airplay. The talent is out there, they just aren't getting exposed as they should. I will say the 90's started that whole image thing. The 80's to me was the most genuine in that aspect if we compare the two decades. The live music was awesome.
I had a ball in the 90's. But heck, I'm having fond memories now. As long as I have breath, I am gonna find something good in music somewhere. LOL!
The 90's had great music and it was a fun decade. Now everything is so judged. Celebrities are constantly under the microscope now and they must feel like they always have to be perfect. Sometimes it seems like in the media, being able to relax and have fun is gone. Everything is about perfection and pressure except on the reality shows were the more stupid you act, the more famous you will be. I miss sitcoms and comedies that were fun and made you laugh. They were funny without being cruel.

And as far as I can see, if what you meant to say was that they get angry at Christians for trying to convert them, then try to convert the Christians, there is fault on both sides, and the contradiction is by no means limited to atheists. And Christmas? Don't make me laugh. You Christians stole that holiday from the pagans. There's plenty of debate about what time of the year Jesus was born, and it probably wasn't December 25. Ever wonder why Christmas and Easter are so close to the winter solstice, and vernal equinox, respectively? Pagan holidays. They deny each piece of scientific evidence for creation on the grounds that it can't be true in the face of the "overwhelming" evidence to the contrary. They do this with each piece independently, and then declare there is no scientific evidence for creation. This is the same argument they use to keep a lot of it out of scientific journals (controlled by evolutionists) and then they claim we never publish anything in scientific journals.
Another one, I love how they view Creation as appealing to the miraculous, but then they believe in the Big Bang..with....no...apparent....cause? They never answer the question of what caused it. Their beliefs are require a LOT more faith in the miraculous than Creation does.

The first one you provided was not a contradiction. And as far as I can see, if what you meant to say was that they get angry at Christians for trying to convert them, then try to convert the Christians, there is fault on both sides, and the contradiction is by no means limited to atheists. After all, the Christians were the ones insisting that others believe as they do, in the first place. (Not that two wrongs make a right, I’m just saying that the offense in question is not limited to atheists.)

Ever wonder why Christmas and Easter are so close to the winter solstice, and vernal equinox, respectively? Pagan holidays. They deny each piece of scientific evidence for creation on the grounds that it can't be true in the face of the "overwhelming" evidence to the contrary. They do this with each piece independently, and then declare there is no scientific evidence for creation. This is the same argument they use to keep a lot of it out of scientific journals (controlled by evolutionists) and then they claim we never publish anything in scientific journals.
Another one, I love how they view Creation as appealing to the miraculous, but then they believe in the Big Bang..with....no...apparent....cause? They never answer the question of what caused it. Their beliefs are require a LOT more faith in the miraculous than Creation does.
