I understand that limewire is good but has drawbacks such as bringing in viruses. I don't know much about Ares Lite but I have seen it mentioned here several times. So which one is better please ?
I use nothing more than limewire, i get a 6700 kb song in 34 sec, at download spike of 245.9 kbs a sec , I can get more but i trust lime
as far as network security, look for patterns, like files with the sam kb size, or all in weird formats, or songs in zips
there is no such thing as safe file sharing, NO NETWORK is safe not ares, wich is nothing more thana bittorent, and kazaa and imesh were built on trojans

I get a lot of advertisements about dowloadable software. One that I've been getting a lot lately is for Adobe CS3 Premium for only $269 when the retail price is well over $1,500.00. I was wondering if this is a scam. Has anyone used these downloads? What was your experience? Would you recommend it to a friend? What are the disadvantages to downloading as opposed to purchasing the CD?

A lot of people don't realize what the bulk of the cost is in buying software. It is not a box or a disk or a manual, but rather a license to use the software.
I have bought OEM software in the past and been happy with it. The discount for the particular product you mentioned seems steep (so I would be highly suspicious). Is this a respectable company? Unfortunately, the only way to know if you are buying a legal product is to see some kind of proof that the distrubtor has the legal right to sell the software. Some sort of distribution/licensing agreement. Why not send an email and ask for proof that the product is legit? It would be the safe play for your legal concerns.
It is usually a scam yes, you will get the product, and you will get a key for it, but the people who sell it got it illegally and generated a key for it...
In other words, you wodownload oem softwarent get ripped off if you buy it, youll get what they advertise, but they got it illegally, therefore it is illegal...
The best way to get GENUINE OEM software is to go to a store that may sell OEM versions of software...
Or get a cd somewhere...

I wouldn't visit the site, because most likely it's just a front for identity theft. Even if you don't enter your CC info into the site and submit an order they may stealth install a trojan or other virus to collect your information without your knowledge. Best bet, just delete any and all spam you get, because 99%, if not 100% of the time it's just a scam.

I am really getting into photo editing and I was wondering what is the best free software for editing photos. I have a 2010 Macbook Pro. I am currently using iphoto but it doesn't seem to do very advanced stuff. I wanted to try things like making a person look skinnier and making their breasts bigger, and cool stuff like that. Serif offers it's PhotoPlus software free - not the current version, but a very good editor (they hope you will upgrfree photo editing softwareade to a paid version eventually), and it is compatible with Photoshop Filters.
Personally I use GIMP. It's a free photo editing software downloadable for both Windows and Macintosh and downloadable in many different languages. I am norwegian, and even I got it in my language. It's pretty impressive, and very similar to Photoshop. I highly recommend it! :)

All the main characters to include Light Yagami, L, ect. are played by terrible acdownload the movietors who look seriously too young for the characters they are playing. Also, the shinigami are all computer generated animations and it looks really lame. I am telling you. I watched about five minutes and turned it off in disappointment. Don't waste your time.

There is no easy answer to this as it entirely depends on what you use your computer for and what software you use. The easiest thing to do is leave them there but that uses disk space so you could remove the ones you don't use and just keep the others.
How can we know what you use or don't use on your computer? Everything you listed is optional, up to you to decide if you want or not.

There is no easy answer to this as it entirely depends on what you use your computer for and what software you use. The easiest thing to do is leave them there but that uses disk space so you could remove the ones you don't use and just keep the others.

The GB and the internet have nothing to do with each other. The GB is just for how much video, music, photo's, apps, etc you can store on it. I ipod touchI have the 8GB which is plenty big for me. The Internet browser is like you would see on a computer, not on a cellphone.

The only thing is if you aren't going to be in areas with a WiFi connection or if you want to download more than about 3500 songs you may want to just get a regular video ipod or nano. the 32GB holds 7000 songs but costs around 500.00 whereas you can get the classic 160gb iPod for 350.00 and it holds roughly 40,000 songs
The 16gb Touch is the best option in my opinion. It doesn't have the capacity of the 32gb obviously, but it's well worth the $400 if you're going to use it as a PDA. MobileSafari works like a charm and is relatively quick depending on your wifi connection.

I need a remote desktop software for mac in which I can fully control my computer wirelessly. I also want to be able to transfer files between the computer I am on and the computer being controlled. I want to do all this without being on the same network and fairly cheaply.

downloads from opera not working. tested ports they are ok. what next.

Also click Toopera downloadsols -> Preferences -> Advanced -> downloads . Here untick 'hide files opened with opera' and in the search field type in bittorrent. Now select the entry application/x-bittorent and click edit. here make sure open with opera is checked.
5) If the above point is true and still torrents with opera wouldn't work, then don't use Opera's torrent client. Use a standalone one. For this uncheck 'enabled' by going to opera:config as described in 4th point, and hit 'save'. Alternatively, click edit on the entry application/x-bittorent and choose open with default application or open with another application and select the path for it.
6) If all this fails, then reinstall opera. While uninstalling, also remove the settings files. See this article . Needless to say export bookmarks and backup some files(if you need them) before uninstalling. The article to backup opera files is here

Probably a browser problopera downloadsem. If you're using the Opera browser then there really should be no problem. If not and you are trying to download the Opera browser itself then any browser should be fine. I've used Avant Browser, Internet Explorer and Firefox to go to the Opera site and download the browser. If you can't download the browser then more than likely you have a browser problem. In a lot of cases downloading from Opera.com runs in the background in some browsers and sometimes in plain view in others. Check the mirror sites and see if they are compatable with the browser you're using as Opera has a list of download sites that automatically check for compatability with web browsers. You can forget about using Netscape to download from Opera. It doesn't work.

Probably a browser problopera downloadsem. If you're using the Opera browser then there really should be no problem. If not and you are trying to download the Opera browser itself then any browser should be fine. I've used Avant Browser, Internet Explorer and Firefox to go to the Opera site and download the browser. If you can't download the browser then more than likely you have a browser problem. In a lot of cases downloading from Opera.com runs in the background in some browsers and sometimes in plain view in others. Check the mirror sites and see if they are compatable with the browser you're using as Opera has a list of download sites that automatically check for compatability with web browsers. You can forget about using Netscape to download from Opera. It doesn't work.

I have flashget 1.9.6 and I download through a Rapidshare server. A few days ago all my files started downloading as 262 bit files, I checked my Rapidshare account which is active and working, and have tried signing in again on flashget, but to no avail, any ideas?

Take a backup of the files and reinstall Windows.
There is probably some adware/spyware or virus that is running on the system, and it will not show up under Add/Remove programs by virtue of how they get on the system in the first place.
Even for experts, it is very time-consuming to locate exactly where the issue is, and even if located, it's impossible to be sure that you've completely removed it. As it only takes a couple hours to perform backups and reinstall the OS, thus giving you a clean slate, that's the recommend methodology.
As for what's causing the slowdown -- if it almost freezes up, it means that you are probably running out of RAM (random access memory, not to be confused with hard disk / storage). In that situation, your system begins swapping, or using free space on your hard disk as backup. The issue is that your hard disk is 1000 times slower, which results in the system seizing up.
As for how much hard disk storage space is used -- contrary to popular beliadobe shockwave player 11 free downloadef, using too much of it doesn't slow the computer down. It's one of those things where you either have enough or don't have enough. If you have enough, your computer runs fine, and if not, things fail catastrophically. In your case, you have a 80GB HDD, 13GB of which is used. This is fine.

Please tell me what I can delete because I know all the programs are completely unnecessary. I have run multiple disk cleanup n ccleaner but problem if not fixed. Please help Thank you :[
Take a backup of the files and reinstall Windows.
There is probably some adware/spyware or virus that is running on the system, and it will not show up under Add/Remove programs by virtue of how they get on the system in the first place.
Even for experts, it is very time-consuming to locate exactly where the issue is, and even if located, it's impossible to be sure that you've completely removed it. As it only takes a couple hours to perform backups and reinstall the OS, thus giving you a clean slate, that's the recommend methodology.
As for what's causing the slowdown -- if it almost freezes up, it means that you are probably running out of RAM (random access memory, not to be confused with hard disk / storage). In that situation, your system begins swapping, or using free space on your hard disk as backup. The issue is that your hard disk is 1000 times slower, which results in the system seizing up.
As for how much hard disk storage space is used -- contrary to popular beliadobe shockwave player 11 free downloadef, using too much of it doesn't slow the computer down. It's one of those things where you either have enough or don't have enough. If you have enough, your computer runs fine, and if not, things fail catastrophically. In your case, you have a 80GB HDD, 13GB of which is used. This is fine.

Celeron CPU's are really bad so dont expect a fast computer.

Format the hard disk and reinstall Windows (though I highly recommend Ubuntu if you want it to work better like a Mac)
I would also keep Google Chrome if you don't want to format the hard drive, it's a very useful program.

well, first of all me and my friends have been making a TON of movies on iMovie and all have been published, now i recentley experienced a problem with my mac, i was dragging a clip into the editing board for a project and the entire iMovie page wen't greyish it's hard to explain, it was like the gray and white and black stripes you see on a t.v without any signal, but it seemed as though everytime i moved my mouse around the page something almost beige ( what i believe was our video) started coming up behind it and more was being built and built.
i recentley installed iAntiVirus but am really worried, ( the free version )
i got the baby at free new limewire download 2008Christmas time 2008 and i am wondering if wiping out my hardrive and getting a new one would be a good idea? i don't have any thing of REAL importance on it so.. why not? but i just wonder if there is in fact a certain type of virus i have?
oh and i also have downloaded limewire because a friend needed some music so she uses my limewire.. is that a possible cause? and do you think it has anything to do with viruses from my videos or publishing them??!?!
also if you are a safari user and you know the top sites format when you open a new tab all the little thumbnails look like that greyish wite black stripe!!

No, you don't have a virus. But I'd just like to say, it's people like you that make the rest of the Mac-using community look like idiots who don't know how to use a computer.
Of course you can always go and install a fresh MacOS X erasing the old system. This is the last resort when your system has really been f***ed up. Use the original DVDs and see the manual that came with your Mac.

Andeas vollenweider has great harp stuff.
I listened to many Jean-Michael Jarre and Vangelis music too but I am not sure that those will help you study better. They did for me but I'm not sure I van recommend them for ylisten to instrumental musicou.

Put on a online radio stream with chillout music.

itunes libraryITunes Library?
I have all of my music for my intunes on my external harddrive. I had to completely wipe out my comptuer but i backed up my library and playlists or so i thought. When I put all my music and stuff back on my itunes it was not organized at all. How do I back up my entire library and playlitunes libraryists, so that If i were to reput it onto itunes again it would be organized. Also Everyonce in a while lots of songs in my itunes will all of the sudden say that it can not find the location. So I had to reo my entire library. Once again it would have been easier to just copy all my stuffitunes library back into the library. How can I do this ?? Please Help!

My preference is Google Chrome, it's very fast, and simple. Although at this moment I'm using Mozilla Firefox (3.5) and i think Firefox is also a decent browser, although i don't use all that add-on crap. As for Opera and Safari, I've only tried Opera(10 beta) and that seemed very quick, although was a little unstable on my system for some strange un-known reason i cannot explain. Safari, well never tried it but I've heard is the fastest of them all - let me know what you think and which you guys prefer to use? =)
NOTE: I left Internet Explorer out quite simply because it's utter ****, but if you prefer it then by all means let me know, not that I'll take notice! =P

You can try a workaround. Install Firefox and use it to go to Adobe.com. Firefox doesn't use the ActiveX control to install Adobe Reader, it downloads a file. Save the installer and then run it from your local computer and see if that works.

You can try a workaround. Install Firefox and use it to go to Adobe.com. Firefox doesn't use the ActiveX control to install Adobe Reader, it downloads a file. Save the installer and then run it from your local computer and see if that works.
You first must be using an 'Administrative' level account.
Active X is scripting, and will make (install) stuff to your system so be very careful with who you're getting this from.
In IE> Tools> Int. Options> Advanced> Security heading; check 'Allow active content to run files on my computer'...
